Spring has definitely arrived where I live. The squirrels are facing off across the road and then madly chasing each other in that crazy squirrel way. The woodpeckers start their day at 7 a.m., jackhammering on the roof of my house, trying, I think, to get the female’s attention. And the male turkeys are hovering around the females in all their puffed up splendor. (Although, the females don’t seem all that impressed.)
My husband counted 42 turkeys in our driveway last week. How could I resist?

I love your calligraphic turkey - what a great subject!
That is one stylish-looking turkey! His (?) feathers remind me of a spray of black ostrich feathers I have that belonged to my great-grandmother--beautiful!
So, I assume it's turkey for dinner? *wink
You've done a great job of making us think this was an easy subject ... I doubt it is though.
I love it! We're noticing lots of cannoodling going on in our neck of the woods--all the birds and ducks and geese all coupling up. It's cute. Love and spring are both in the air.
Your turkey is wonderfully free and beautiful! Stately bird here!
This is a lovely spontaneous illustration - the colours are wonderful! Very nice blog - will be back to visit again!
These Oregon turkeys are way cuter than our Wisconsin turkeys, if your sketch is any indication. My sister-in-law has flocks that circle her house, and often settle on the bird feeders.
Great painting Sharon. I saw this on Flicker and had to pop over to your blog for the full story.
I would love to live where I could see wild turkeys! I also like that poem about Loafing. This is exactly what I am doing today and catching up with blog friends worldwide.
