Summer doesn't
officially arrive until June 21, but it's been quite hot in Oregon. Last weekend we drove to the nearby community of Oakland to explore the Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park. The 1,100 acre ranch, settled in the 1800s, was left to the county in a will and is now managed indefinitely as a park. The park is quite beautiful and the many peacocks wandering around were, too. But the crazy screeching of those birds made the surroundings a lot less restful.

Beautiful photos, Sharon. I love the abstract quality of the middle one, with that cresent of blue--that echos the peacock's tail! The peacock looks like a runway who's just turned around and stopped for a photo op!
Lovely - a medley of blue and green.
They do make a racket, don't they! I came home one day a few years back, at lunchtime, and there was a peacock sitting up on the rail of our deck with its plumage stretching gracefully over the railing. I have no clue where it came from, and it was gone by the time I came home again. I took a photo as no one would have believed my story. Lovely, Sharon!
