I've been enjoying Katherine Tyrell's posts at
Making a Mark about Japanese art and its influence on artists such as Mary Cassatt, Degas, Lautrec, etc. I checked a book out from the library to do a bit of exploration on my own about the art of Japan, and came across a black and white photo of a statue entitled
Priest Ganjin. The shading in the photo was so wonderful, I had to give it a try. And then I realized that I'd seen this guy before...well, sort of, and very close to home, too.

Haha! A theme indeed! It must be all that study of Japonisme Robyn (Have Dogs Will Travel) was doing. Now she's moved on to wood nymphs no telling what will happen!
Great sketch of the Buddha - I love the way you handled the light. And your bookend is hilarious - I want one!
Wonderful flow and nice color combo, Sharon. Love it.
Too funny!
