I'm so sorry to hear about these short-sighted neighbors. Even just telling the story does something to educate and remind ourselves. Never give up! They may re-discover the joys of real nature.
I love this portrait. It has more "sound of clogs" than accurate, schooled hand -- and that's a good thing. The first thing I felt upon seeing it was a peaceful, lush atmosphere.
It's a lovely painting, Sharon--great colors and I love the softness of your brushstrokes. We have the same problem at the Jersey Shore: people clearing out all the trees (it's easier, cheaper) to build. Just another example of the American trait of failing to look ahead, being too impatient to think things through? You should have to live on a property before cutting down the trees!

Gorgeous! Sigh ... neighbours ... what can you do. :-)
Your first attempt? This is beautiful! Too bad about the trees though.
Beautiful! It is disheartening to see what some people will do! Your first landscape is gorgeous

Nice reflection...in the water, too.
