May 3: Finito!

Finito! Finished! The end!

I’ve posted my last little painting for the Everyday in May challenge. I’m glad I participated in the project, but I’m also pleased that it’s over. On the plus side, daily painting has helped increase my skill and confidence a bit. I learned a lot and I’m feeling a little less intimidated by the medium of watercolor. I also met up with some new EDM members and have been enjoying their daily drawings and paintings. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and left tips and encouraging comments during this month. I really appreciate your visits and I am inspired by your work.

What I liked the least about this challenge was having to post a painting every day. I put a lot of artwork on the internet that I would have never considered posting if I hadn’t been participating in this project. I found that stressful.

Now I’m going to focus on other things, although I will continue to paint or draw every day. In June I’m going to begin experimenting with my new Schmincke watercolors. I purchased them in early May, but felt I should stick with the paints I was familiar with for the EDIM project. I’m going to spend time focusing on color studies with colors I have difficulty working with (reds & yellows). I’m going to paint outside. And finally, I’m going to focus on being loose and sloppy with my watercolors. That’s what seems to make me happiest.

Congratulations on a great month's work!! I have really enjoyed seeing your watercolours. And somehow, seeing this challenge through now makes it all the more exciting to think of the freedom we now have with which to create in June! :)

Oooh, I can't wait to see what you do with all these new goals. Good for you! This last one is beautiful--you chose such interesting subjects, too. Congratulations on your beautiful month of art. I would have felt proud to have had any of those be my creations! They were all wonderful!

I have been inspired by your dedication at this project. While my intentions were good, I didn't succeed in drawing every day, or even posting every day. Your illustrated Italian was a wonderful idea.

Oh I am so glad you did this challenge, I have enjoyed every single one of them - and I am so sad it is over - although I agree with you on the stress attached. I look forward to your next project with color and I know I will learn from it - post it all please ;-)
