October Virtual Sketch Date

I have company coming this weekend, so I'm posting my painting for the October Virtual Sketch Date early. This is the first time I've used rough paper and I really like the granulation.

Sharon, I love the textured, gritty pear-essence you've captured!

These are fresh and light, your usual deft touch.

I really like it how you overlapped the left pear with the middle one.

Very clean. Very sumi-e.

This truely is lovely. Bright, clean and straight forward. Did I say how great this is?

Super work, Sharon. I admire the neatly placed and natural looking dark spots... I tried the "controlled" splash, with rather messy results.Tips?

Nice work! I like the way you changed the composition and overlapped those two pears.

Hi Sharon. Thanks for your comment on my blog, and for the clever and generous tip. Your use of the paint's granulation is so good, with the added effect just finishing it beautifully. After looking at lots of pears, your version comes up trumps! It's really great.

I've seen a lot of these pears by now, but these are in the very tip-top of the whole crop. Beautiful work!

Dee,
I used Arches 140 lb. rough for this, but I think I like Lanaquarelle rough watercolor paper better.
