Bear Fetish

This granite bear fetish from Santa Fe was a gift from a good friend. I've tried to sketch it several times over the years, but it never comes out quite right.

"According to Zuni mythology, the Bear fetish is the Guardian of the West and has the power to heal and transform human passions into true wisdom. They believe that Bear is invaluable whenever you are faced with change and transition and that it can be your ally when you are attempting to resolve conflict, forgive yourself or others for errors of the past, or when you are faced with new challenges in your spiritual path."

Hmmm, perhaps I shouldn't be so neglectful of this little guy...

Poor old George W might need to borrow your bear!

What a great object to have, Sharon and this sketch certainly worked out.

He's not getting my bear fetish, Robyn! I don't want him to "forgive himself for the errors of the past." I hope he has nightmares about them for the rest of his life. (Not that I think he has a conscience...)

Your fetish is charming, and all the more powerful because s(he) was a gift. I have several Zuni fetishes, but only one sits out in my studio with me at a time. Perhaps it's time for frog to go rest and bear to come out.
